How Hoover Dam tours differ
You can see the dam in three ways. You can buy a ticket at the Visitor Center and tour it yourself, you can join a small-group trip from Las Vegas that includes the transport, or you can add the dam to a longer day with a helicopter flight or a Grand Canyon West visit.
The examples below come from single operators. They show what one product costs, not a market range, and a listed price is not a final checkout price for every date. Check three things for each tour: what it includes, where it starts and what the price leaves out, such as lunch and tips.

Our picks: guided Hoover Dam tours
The inside tour suits you if you want the generator room and Boulder City in one trip. The small-group half day keeps the group small; the three-hour mini tour is the shortest option and stays outside the powerplant.

Tour types compared
Adult prices in 2026. Each row is one operator's product, or the ticket at the dam.
| Option | Length | What it covers | Price 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Powerplant Tour at the dam | About 30 minutes plus a film | Guided tour inside the dam, exhibits and viewing deck | $25, ages 4 to 16 $15 |
| Dam Tour at the dam | About 1 hour plus a film | Longer guided tour, sold on site only | $40 |
| Small-group tour from Las Vegas | β | Hotel pickup, Powerplant Tour, Visitor Center and a guided walk on the crown | From $109 |
| Helicopter flight | 35 to 40 minutes | Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River and the Strip, no landing at the dam | From $219 |
| Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam and Seven Magic Mountains | β | Day trip with a walk on the crown; Skywalk and lunch are a separate package | Skywalk and lunch package $35 |
| Lake Mead sightseeing cruise | 90 minutes | Boat trip from Hemenway Harbor, Wednesday to Sunday, 4 February to 21 December 2026 | $52, children 2 to 11 $28 |
For most visitors from Las Vegas, a small-group tour with hotel pickup is the easiest way to combine the drive, the Powerplant Tour and the crown in one morning. If you have a car and want the lowest cost, buy the Powerplant Tour at the Visitor Center yourself. Choose the flight for the view from above, not for time at the dam.
Hoover Dam guided tour: what each one involves
The details that decide whether a tour fits you.
The guided tours at the dam
The Powerplant Tour costs $25 for adults and $15 for ages 4 to 16. The Dam Tour costs $40 and is sold on site only, first come, first served, with the whole group present. Children up to age 3 are free. Check which tours are running before your visit.
Tickets and prices βThe small-group tour
The example listed from $109 per person takes ages 5 and up and a maximum of 14 guests, with daily departures. It includes hotel pickup in Las Vegas, the Powerplant Tour, the Visitor Center and a guided walk on the crown. Lunch and tips are not included. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before.
From Las Vegas βThe helicopter flight
The flight listed from $219 per person lasts about 35 to 40 minutes and starts near Las Vegas Boulevard. The route covers the dam, Lake Mead, the Colorado River and the Strip. It does not land at the dam, and the exact flight line is not guaranteed.
Helicopter flights βThe Grand Canyon West combination
One operator combines Grand Canyon West, the dam and Seven Magic Mountains in a day, with a walk on the crown. Skywalk and lunch are listed as a separate $35 package, so do not expect an official dam tour to be part of it.
Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam βWhat to check before you book
The wording differs more than the prices do.
Is a tour inside the dam included?
Some tours include the Powerplant Tour, and some only walk the crown and the outside. Look for the words Powerplant Tour in the list of inclusions.
Booking terms
The small-group example asks for a 20 percent deposit, with the rest due 7 days before. A booking made within 10 days of the trip is paid in full. Terms differ by operator, so read them before you pay.
Wheelchairs and walkers
The same van tour does not take wheelchairs, scooters or walkers. That is a rule of the transfer, not of the power plant, which allows them on the Powerplant Tour.
Time zones and clocks
Nevada uses Pacific time with daylight saving, and Arizona does not. In summer the clocks match, and in winter Arizona is one hour ahead, so check which time zone a listed time uses.

Hoover Dam tours: frequently asked questions
Which Hoover Dam tour should I choose?
It depends on how you travel. With a car, the Powerplant Tour bought at the Visitor Center costs least. Without a car, a small-group tour with hotel pickup solves the transport. The table above compares single examples, not a ranking.
How much do Hoover Dam tours cost?
The tickets at the dam cost $25 and $40 in 2026. The small-group example starts at $109, and the helicopter flight example at $219. These are single products for adults, and extras can change the final price.
Do small-group tours go inside the dam?
It depends on the tour. The example above includes the Powerplant Tour, the Visitor Center and a walk on the crown. Read the list of inclusions on any tour you consider.
Are meals and tips included?
On the small-group example, lunch and tips are not included. Check each offer, because inclusions differ.
Does a helicopter flight land at the dam?
No. The flight example covers the dam, Lake Mead, the river and the Strip from the air. It does not land at the dam.
Is hoover-dam.org a tour operator?
No. This is an independent guide, not a tour operator, and it is not run by the Bureau of Reclamation or the National Park Service.
